6 Ways to Celebrate Your Pet

Here at RAWZ, we find reasons to celebrate our pets quite often whether it’s birthdays, gotcha days, or holidays. Pet lovers seem to take any and all opportunities to celebrate their four-legged family! Whatever the reason for your celebration, here are six fun ideas to share the joy your pet brings.

1. Throw a Party (or is it Pawty?)

Just like a social gathering can serve as a celebration for us human folk, pets can also engage in revelry among friends! No matter the occasion, here are some tips to make it a successful pawty:

Curate the Guest List - Every great celebration starts with a well-curated guest list! Inviting animals who already get along or have well-established, friendly temperaments can go a long way toward ensuring a joyous celebration.

Setting - Ideally, hold the celebration in a confined outdoor space or an enclosure free of chew hazards and decor that might easily break or become stained. It’s also a good idea to make sure collars are safe, secure, and won’t snag during playtime.

Supervise - No matter how well-behaved a group of pets are or how many times they’ve previously met, careful monitoring can help prevent accidents or any aggressive behavior in groups of pets.

2. Provide a Day of Pampering

Who doesn’t love a spa day or some good old fashioned self-care? If you have a pet who enjoys a trip to their favorite groomer, schedule them a day of relaxation or perhaps try a DIY spa day with your furry companion!

3. A Good Old-Fashioned Treat

Just like Old Mother Hubbard going to the cupboard to fetch her dog a bone, celebrating your dog or cat with a nutritious treat is always an option! Whether you offer your cat one of RAWZ’s delicious freeze-dried treats, a tasty topper, or you treat your dog to one of our wet recipe options, nutritional variety can be a celebration in itself! Whatever treat you choose, just be sure it aligns with your pet’s nutritional goals.

4. Dining Out

While pets are commonly seen as equal members of the family in American society today, not all restaurants may see it that way. Before bringing a pet along for a meal, we recommend you check if pets are allowed. Some restaurants, like Mutts Canine Cantina in Dallas, Texas, actually cater to four-legged clientele, going as far as offering a dog-friendly patio and a canine menu!

5. Photo Shoot

If there’s one thing almost all pet parents are known to do, particularly pet parents without two-legged kin like myself, it’s showing off photographs of our pets. While you may be a fine photographer with a good eye, scheduling a professional photo shoot with a skilled pet photographer is a great way to celebrate your four-legged companion. Here’s some essential pet photo shoot tips from the team at JCPenney.

6. Make an Honorary Donation

Not all pets are fortunate enough to find their forever home with a loving family. In an ideal world, shelters would be empty, but unfortunately nearly 5.8 million cats and dogs enter shelters annually in the US. While it may not be possible to adopt a pet, making a donation to a local shelter either monetarily, with supplies, or with your time in your pet’s name are wonderful ways to celebrate your pet!

A third-generation RAWZ family member, Jim spreads the word of optimal pet nutrition through in-store product demos and regular articles for the RAWZ blog. After sustaining a traumatic brain injury in 2006, Jim began participating in the writing program at the Krempels Center in Portsmouth, NH. Writing was a way to process and heal from his injury — but Jim realized he could also use this skill to spread awareness of the RAWZ brand and mission. Jim covers a range of pet health issues for the company blog, as well as more personal stories that connect to the causes RAWZ supports. His favorite thing to write about? People’s strong bonds with their pets.

Outside of his RAWZ duties, Jim is an avid golfer, a traveling speaker for the Krempels Center and an injury prevention awareness advocate. In 2013 Jim published his memoir, “More Than a Speed Bump” documenting his personal experience with traumatic brain injury and his journey to recovery. He’s also a proud pet parent to his black lab Clooney, who he credits with keeping him active.
