The Scott Family Story
We’re the Scott family. Having founded the Old Mother Hubbard, Wellness and now RAWZ brands, we’ve been delivering exceptional nutrition for pets like yours for over sixty years. We’re equally serious about the causes we care deeply about: Supporting cat rescues, providing service dogs and caring for those living with traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries. To-date, we’ve donated over $3.725 million to these deserving organizations!
Our family’s journey in pet food began when Jim Scott Sr. purchased Old Mother Hubbard® in 1961 (sold to the owners of WellPet with the Wellness® brand in 2008). Now, with our son Jim III, we have founded RAWZ® Natural Pet Food. Our first goal is to offer your pet nutritionally exceptional recipes that provide the highest meat content possible, utilizing natural alternatives to highly-processed ingredients. Our second goal is to give back.
Our sons both acquired life-altering injuries. As they were recovering, we experienced the spiritual impact a pet can have on its family. Living through that difficult time, we received tremendous comfort and support from Boomer, our family’s yellow lab. In recognition of the crucial role Boomer played as we transitioned into a new chapter of our lives together, we pledged as a family to donate 100% of the profits (after taxes and reserves) from RAWZ® to four main causes: Supporting cat rescues, providing service dogs and helping people living with traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries.
While the brothers were recovering from their serious injuries, Jim III set out to craft a kibble that would be “the next best thing to feeding raw”. And so in 2015, RAWZ Natural Pet Food was born.
Today, both the range of recipes we offer and the size of our family has grown. But our commitment to nourish the lives of people and pets is still going strong.
At the heart of RAWZ is our love of animals and our personal promise to give back. So while you’re providing your furry companion with exceptional nutrition, you’re also helping to support cat rescues, care for survivors of traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, and provide service dogs to those in desperate need.
