Take your dog to work day…

At RAWZ Natural Pet Food’s office in York, ME, everyday is take your dog to work day. Mary, the general manager, can be found in the office 5 days a week with her adorable Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix Idgie. Idgie will be eleven soon, but you would never know it based on her youthful demeanor. Now that RAWZ is getting rolling, I’m attempting to meet as many people as possible and have lots of interaction with our trusted retail partners. (By the way, I’m Jim Scott III) Despite my time on the road, I still get into the office as much as possible; and of course on those days my dog Clooney is with me. Clooney’s a 2 year and 8 month old lab from Georgia. It’s funny to see how the dogs interact. After briefly saying hello upon first meeting, Clooney jumped right on Idgie’s little bed atop the couch. Now, the first time this happened I wanted to tell Clooney how rude it was and guide him back to his own pillow. However, by the time I looked for Idgie’s reaction she had made herself quite comfortable on Clooney’s large dog bed. Apparently the RAWZ dogs came to an agreement that first day because they seem pretty content on each other’s beds.

A third-generation RAWZ family member, Jim spreads the word of optimal pet nutrition through in-store product demos and regular articles for the RAWZ blog. After sustaining a traumatic brain injury in 2006, Jim began participating in the writing program at the Krempels Center in Portsmouth, NH. Writing was a way to process and heal from his injury — but Jim realized he could also use this skill to spread awareness of the RAWZ brand and mission. Jim covers a range of pet health issues for the company blog, as well as more personal stories that connect to the causes RAWZ supports. His favorite thing to write about? People’s strong bonds with their pets.

Outside of his RAWZ duties, Jim is an avid golfer, a traveling speaker for the Krempels Center and an injury prevention awareness advocate. In 2013 Jim published his memoir, “More Than a Speed Bump” documenting his personal experience with traumatic brain injury and his journey to recovery. He’s also a proud pet parent to his black lab Clooney, who he credits with keeping him active.
