International Cat Day

Whether from the amazing nutritional options RAWZ offers our feline friends or the abundance of cat related content we share, our affinity for cats is obvious. So it may not come as a surprise to learn that August 8th is a date circled on our calendars. Why is that you ask? August 8th is International Cat Day!

Created in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare, the purpose of International Cat Day is to raise awareness about cats and the ways in which we can help and protect them. Since then, International Cat Care (ICC), a British non-profit organization that has sought to promote and improve cat welfare initiatives since 1958, received custodianship of the holiday in 2020 and encourages cat lovers across the globe to unite in celebrating the bonds we share with the species. In their efforts to challenge the cruelty and mistreatment that cats face, the ICC has created 7 Principles to guide their work towards a future world that is more cat-friendly:

Respect Cats - Honor the diversity of the species and seek to understand each animal

Keep Cats Well - Keep an even focus on both a cat’s physical and mental wellbeing

Do Cats No Harm - Ensure cats are never worse off as a result of humans or their activities

Be Solution Driven for Cats - Find evidence-based, pragmatic and sustainable solutions for cats

Communicate for Cats - Communicate considerately and share knowledge generously for the sake of cats

Collaborate for Cats - Work together, locally, internationally, and with people of all different backgrounds, always supporting and valuing each other

Evolve for Cats - Be innovative, be curious and keep learning for cats

With the 7 principles and their synergy with RAWZ’s mission of improving cats’ quality of life, we’re excited to present RAWZ Real Rabbit Dry Food for Cats! In 1.75, 3.5, and 7.8 lb bags, this single-source animal protein option is great for cats with food sensitivities or any cat parents looking to feed a freeze-dried rabbit coated recipe. Made without potatoes, grains, or rendered fat and featuring algal oil as a powerful source of Omega 3s, RAWZ Real Rabbit represents a “solution driven” development for felines!

Perhaps there is no more appropriate time to acknowledge one of the amazing non-profit organizations that RAWZ is honored to support: Madison Cat Project. MCP, founded as Dane County (WI) Friends of Ferals in 2001, “is an Adoption Guarantee organization which works in the community to find homes for cats who might otherwise be euthanized at other shelters whether due to behavioral, medical or space issues.” With their shelter providing emergency housing to feral cats, MCP also offers low-cost spay/neuter services along with an array of feline wellness services. We couldn’t be prouder to support MCP in their valuable work of “Saving cats’ lives through community solutions”.

Whether by supporting the work of our passionate RAWZ Fund partners or giving cat parents solution-driven options to bolster their cats’ health, RAWZ believes in doing everything we can to protect and help cats live long, healthy lives.
