Why "The first six or seven" is important?

Right on the front of our bags it lists the "First Six/Seven Ingredients". A logical question to ask is what's the big deal about the "First Six or Seven Ingredients"? I'll attempt to shed some light on this here.

The way labeling laws work for pet food are that the ingredients must be listed in the order that they appear based on their pre-cooking weight. So to be listed among the first any given number means that whatever ingredient being talked about is a major component of the food's formula. We're incredibly proud of our formulas; so proud that we list the first six or seven ingredients right on the front of our bags!
