THE NEXT BEST THING TO FEEDING RAW

The RAWZ Approach to Feline Nutrition
At RAWZ, we know that good food takes time to prepare. That’s why RAWZ minimally processed, all natural cat food is gently cooked in smaller batches at a lower temperature that still ensures food safety. And you’ll find no added water here — the moisture naturally present in our fresh poultry and fish is all that’s needed to cook the food in its own juices.
RAWZ’s high meat formulas contain fewer carbohydrates than most commercial pet foods; instead of grains and potatoes, we use alternative sources like pea starch, which has a lower glycemic index and is an excellent source of insoluble fiber. Our pet foods also provide healthy levels of quality, highly digestible protein and a healthy amount of naturally occurring fat. This makes RAWZ an ideal option for overweight cats or those who need to maintain an existing healthy weight. RAWZ meal free dry food for cats is also certified low glycemic by the Glycemic Research Institute making it an ideal option for diabetic cats.
When it comes to our ingredient lists, we include nothing more than the most essential components. We prefer to use dehydrated chicken as a concentrated source of protein, since the highly processed meals present in other pet foods offer neither a highly digestible source of protein nor the optimum amino acid profile.
We’ve worked with leading pet nutritionists to develop recipes that provide optimal nutrition to all cat and dog breeds across all life stages as required by the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO). A raw diet for cats is as pure as it gets, and RAWZ offers THE NEXT BEST THING.
Natural Cat Food FAQs
Q. WHAT DOES “MEAL FREE” MEAN?
“Meal free” means that RAWZ products do not contain any type of rendered meats at all (no chicken meal, no turkey meal, no lamb meal, and no fish meals). RAWZ only uses dehydrated chicken, real poultry and/or wild caught fish as protein sources.
Q. WHY ARE LOWER CARBOHYDRATES PREFERRED?
Carbohydrates are not part of a cat’s natural diet, so therefore carbohydrates are not nutritionally essential (in any amount) for them. In fact, excessive carbohydrates may contribute to unhealthy weight gain in some pets.
Q. HOW IS YOUR PRODUCT ABLE TO PROVIDE FOR ALL LIFE STAGES AND ALL BREEDS?
In order for a food to be classified “all life stages,” it must pass a certain protocol used by the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AFFCO). This protocol determines if a food has the nutrient content necessary to fully support the AAFCO’s four stages of life: gestation/lactation, growth, adult maintenance and all life stages. A pet at any stage of life may consume food with an “all life stages” classification, as long as they are fed the correct amount for their weight and age. We are pleased to say that RAWZ meal free dry recipes and pâtés meet the “all life stages” guidelines, while our shredded cans and pouches are approved for “adult maintenance.” All of our packaging includes specific feeding instructions.
Q. HOW DO I TRANSITION MY CAT OVER FROM HIS OR HER CURRENT FOOD TO RAWZ?
To transition, gradually mix RAWZ into your cat’s current food over a 5 to 7-day period, increasing the amount of RAWZ each day, so that you are feeding 100% RAWZ by day 7.
When transitioning to a new food, it is important to pay attention to your cat’s stool. A healthy diet and good digestion should result in a stool that is formed but soft – not liquid and not rock hard.
Transition your cat gently! Please follow these general guidelines and your own common sense; if your cat experiences digestive distress, please pause the transition and consult a veterinarian-nutritionist for guidance.
